NSW and contractor NCC have won a competition for the new Risenga School in Asker.
The challenge was to design a future orientated school based on a brief from the Asker municipality for 540 junior high students and the Asker cultural school activities. The main parameters for the project evaluation were design and cost.
The jury especially pointed out these qualities of the winning design:
– Sensible and good siting of the building and volumes, with an inviting entrance/ schoolyard.
– Attractive distribution of volumes and spaces in the common areas, connecting the school functions,
creating good internal communication, and allowing for good visual contact.
– Suitable, flexible and functional placement of school areas and the cultural provisions.
