The newspaper Finansavisen has focused on NSW Arkitektur as one of the largest architectural firms in Norway that is still independent. In recent years a number of architectural practices – big and small – have been bought by large engineering firms. Principal partner and chairman of NSW Ole Wiig expressed great concern about this current trend, as it is becoming increasingly more difficult to find competent engineering firms for major architectectural competitions and thus reducing the element of competition. He ia also concerned that the quality of architecture and built environment will suffer as a result of this.
NSW Arkitektur with its 70 employees in Oslo, Hamar and Svolvær is still very successfull with a wide spread of commissions from interior design to planning and everything in between.
