Joana Pinheiro successfully defended her doctoral thesis this week at the ETSA-Universidad Politecnica de Madrid in Spain. She concluding her PhD in Architectural Design with distinction on ‘The Wall as Architectural Reference’.
The thesis proposes the wall as an element with the autonomy and conceptual identity that makes it able to influence or direct the form of architecture work. It serves as a design instrument in the synthesis of different variables for the actions of articulation, emplacement, referencing and conformation in space.”
Joana is a Portuguese citizen and has been employed at NSW since 2013.
