At about 800 meter above sea level, Base Camp lies halfway up the hill at the Olympic slopes at Kvitfjell, among alpine runs and close to hotels and common facilities. The site is steeply raked towards the south, and the building volumes are aligned along the contours in order to meet the challenge of siting large volumes in this steep terrain, resulting in the creation of traditional parallel courtyards between the buildings. The site plan envisages a total of seven ‘Basecamp Houses’, of which three have been built. Each house contains three floors for a total of nine apartments. Each apartment is approximately 65 m². The buildings are faced with roughly milled board cut-off, whose rustic appearance confirms their robust weatherability
