The American World Architecture News has recently published a list of the most sustainable buildings in the world. One of the finalists in the awards competition is the Oslo Airport at Gardermoen.
According to the jury, “The extension of Oslo’s new airport has had a clear focus on design, innovation and sustainability”. The jury is also focusing on the successful holistic design concept encompassing not only sustainability in materials and energy consumption, but also on the unusual efficient building complex.
The project has already receive wide acclaim, being the first airport in the world to receive the international BREEAM Excellent energy classification. The architects for the Oslo Airport have been Nordic – Office of Architecture and Narud Stokke Wiig (NSW) – from competition stage until completion.
