The so far most extensive addition to the Gardermoen airport is getting it´s shape – not only on the paper, but also materialized in form of steel, concrete and quite a bit of glue lam beams. The extension is a continuation of the existing structure: roof profile, façade expression and use of materials is mainly as in the existing building.
The project contains several check-in counters, extended baggage claim area and a new baggage sorting hall.
As shown in the picture, the slab for the departure level is finished, so is the roof, and the façade coloumns is on it´s way up. Here, you also see how the new main beams for the roof is shorter than the existing ones. The time schedule indicates a covered and climatized building before 2009 – and the workers are more or less up to date. You can keep an eye on the progress by visiting the airport, step outside the main terminal building and walk a couple of hundred meters towards east.
